Have you considered Nashville and Memphis for your next student tour? Embrace the spirit of country music in “Music City USA,” and then head to Memphis to experience the soul of the “Blues City.” This itinerary truly immerses your group in so many aspects of American music: country, rock & roll, jazz, and the blues. The vibrant culture, Southern cuisine and rich musical heritage of these cities will result in a trip your students and chaperones won’t soon forget!

Day 1: When you arrive in Nashville, start at the historic “Mother Church of Country Music,” the Ryman Auditorium. The echoes of generations of formative music stars still hang in the air. Then enjoy a southern barbecue dinner at the popular Wildhorse Saloon, and take to the floor for some country line dancing lessons!

Day 2: After a good night’s sleep, grab breakfast at the hotel, and tour the legendary Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum. View Hank Williams’ guitar or explore the Taylor Swift Education Center: their collections bring the history of country music to life. Afterward, enjoy lunch at one of the many local restaurants, and then head to the Historic RCA’s Studio B, where stars including Elvis, Dolly Parton and Roy Orbison recorded some of their classic hits. Your group can create a performance recording of your own in this historic space. Hungry for more? Dine at the Opry Backstage Grill, where your waitstaff take the stage and sing! Later, enjoy a backstage tour of Grand Ole Opry after the show, where you might even spot the evening’s stars.

Day 3: Rise and shine! Enjoy breakfast provided by your hotel.  Band and choral groups might choose to include a music clinic to perfect your students’ skills with the esteemed music faculty from Vanderbilt University. Or choose from a variety of sightseeing tours in the area… perhaps the Heritage Music Tour at Belle Meade Plantation, or the Johnny Cash Museum. That evening, we’re en route to the Blues City!

Day 4: Enjoy breakfast in the hotel, and fuel up for a fun-filled day. Visit the National Civil Rights Museum. There students can take a powerful guided tour, which will be an emotional experience they’ll carry with them always. That afternoon you won’t want to miss touring Graceland Mansion, home of The King. After a long day, students and chaperones alike will soak up the soul and delicious eats at BB King’s for dinner.

Day 5: Your group will enjoy one last yummy breakfast at the hotel and check out. Then, feel the rhythm of the Stax Museum of American Soul Music before returning to Nashville. Enjoy dinner in the area prior to departure, and have a safe flight home!
